Reagan Library staff will provide reproductions of specified records and historical material at the reproduction fee set by NARA (currently $.80 per page). Advance payment is required for large orders. A request for reproduction of available records must include reasonable specificity. The Reagan Library staff cannot undertake extensive searches or make subjective judgments on the "best" material related to a topic. The library will scan the entire contents of any folder a requestor can cite from an Inventory (Finding Aid) or Topic Guide.
Steps for Requesting Copies of Textual Material
Step 1: Identify Material You would like to Order
- The Reagan Library archive staff cannot undertake extensive searches or make subjective judgments of the materials.
- The Entire Folder will be copied. No partial or singular documents.
- Minimum Order for a scan order is $20 (USD), about 25 pages.
- Ensure that folders are "open" for research. If a folder is "closed" you will need to request this material through a FOIA Request.

- Contact an Archivist by emailing reagan.library@nara.gov.
- Before staff will begin scanning, an archivist will provide a page count of the material you would like scanned.
- Provide a detailed list including the Collection Name, Box Number, and Folder Title of the material you would like scanned. Until this list is provided, a archivist is unable to start your request.
- An Archivist will provide you a estimation of page count and cost.
- Upon researcher confirmation of estimated page count, Reagan Staff will begin your order.
Step 3: Reagan Staff Scans Textual Material
- Please Note: Payment may be required upfront for larger orders. Staff will not begin scanning your order until the Archivist receives internal confirmation of payment from pay.gov
- Most scan orders will completed within 7 business days. Larger orders may take longer.
- Your Archivist will keep you updated as the order progresses.
Step 4: Payment
- The Reagan Library uses pay.gov for all reproduction orders.
- Once an invoice is created, an email will be generated for payment by pay.gov. Your archivist will also send you an email with payment instructions.
- Once paid, your archivist will receive notification of payment from pay.gov.
Step 5: Receiving Reproductions
- The Reagan Library uses OneHub to send your document order to you.
- Your itemized receipt will also be included.
- Once payment is received, your archivist will send you a link to download your order. Please note: If you pay after business hours or on weekends, your archivist will send you this link the next business day. Reagan Library Archivist Staff are in Monday-Friday, (9am -5pm, Pacific Time).
FAQs
How do I hire a research assistant?
The Reagan Library do not have Research Assistants for hire. Please the National Archives Independent Research for Hire page.
Can I request physical copies of textual materials?
Yes. Please notify your Archivist when placing your order. Depending on the size of the order, researchers may incur additional shipping costs.
How many pages are in an archival folder?
-Around 50 pages are in a folder for White House Staff and Office Files and WHORM Subject Files.
-Around 100 pages for non-White House Staff and Office Collections.
Please Note: A folder on an inventory may include multiple physical folders. Example: Folder Title: "Reagan Speeches 1981 (1)-(8)" has 8 physical folders.
Can I request singular documents out of archival folders?
No. Only full folders are scanned.

Can someone else pay for my order on my behalf?
Yes. Please tell your Archivist who is paying for your order.
Is there a minimum order for textual reproduction orders?
Yes. The Reagan Library requires a $20 dollar (25 pages) is required.
What forms of payment are accepted on Pay.gov?
Credit cards accepted include American Express, Discover, JCB and UnionPay, MasterCard and Visa. Only MasterCard or Visa-branded debit cards are supported. Pay.gov also accepts ACH (Automated Clearing House) Transfers.
What file format will I receive my scan order in?
All textual reproductions are provided as scanned digital image files. The standard reference file format is PDF.
What are PDF files and how do I view them?
To read or print a file in PDF format, you must install on your computer the Acrobat Reader program, published by Adobe Systems, Inc. Acrobat Reader is free, and there are no restrictions on its copying or distribution. Acrobat Reader works as a standalone application, or as a plug-in within Netscape Navigator or MS Internet Explorer.
