Max Green was appointed as the Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison (OPL) for Jewish affairs and outreach in 1985. He succeeded Marshall Breger as liaison to this constituency. While at the White House he added responsibility for several other constituencies from OPL Deputy Director Linas Kojelis after a reorganization of the OPL office. Because of this reassignment and the collections large amount of material carried over from previous Jewish liaisons, Marshall Breger and Michael Gale, the Library has created multiple subject series to separate the materials with heavy influence or work product from other individuals.
In addition you will find work product of Mr. Green's staff assistant, Matt Zachari, especially in 1987 folders and material. Zachari also has a small collection of his own.
Max Green left the White House in June 1988. Jewish liaison duties were handled by Matt Zachari as interim liaison to the Jewish community. The President appointed a new Associate Director for Public Liaison with the Jewish community, Benjamin Waldman, in September 1988.
The Max Green collection consists of six series: SERIES I: Kojelis-Green Subject File; SERIES II: Green Subject File; SERIES III: Breger-Green Subject File; SERIES IV: Events; SERIES V: Correspondence; and SERIES VI: Telephone Logs.
